Fajr International Film Festival closing host named

Iranian actor Ashkan Khatibi is to host the closing ceremony of the 35th Fajr International Film Festival held in Tehran.

Iranian actor Ashkan Khatibi is to host the closing ceremony of the 35th Fajr International Film Festival held in Tehran.

The festival organizers announced that the closing ceremony will be hosted by Ashkan Khatibi, adding that the winning films will be revealed tomorrow April 27 at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall from 18:30 to 20:00.

Born 1978 in Alborz, Khatibi has a bachelor’s degree in Theater from the Islamic Azad University.

Some movies which he has appeared in include ‘So Close, So Far’ (2004), ‘Absolutely Tame is a Horse’ (2010), ‘The Rules of Accidents’ (2012).

Among the series he had roles in are ‘Travel Companion’ (1999), ‘Time of Rebellion’ (2001), ‘If My Dad Were Alive’ (2004), ‘Breathless’ (2006), ‘On the Way to Zayandeh Roud’ (2010), ‘Lean on the Wind’ (2012) and ‘Relatively Bad Guys’ (2013).

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 35th FIFF is slated for April 21-28 in Tehran.
